This course begins with an overview of the pathophysiology and risk factors for osteoporosis. The second section will focus on the clinical evaluation and steps every patient should take for osteoporosis prevention. The final section will highlight the medications used to treat osteoporosis and crucial counseling points every pharmacist needs to know.

Tara Muzyk, PharmD
Tara is a freelance clinical pharmacy writer based in Tampa, Florida. Tara earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida in 1998 and her Doctor of Pharmacy from Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy in 2002. She performed her yearlong residency at ASHP Primary Care.
Tara was Associate Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Southern Nevada College of Pharmacy, and has served as Education Director for the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System. She has extensive experience as a clinical pharmacist, and currently serves as a volunteer Clinical Pharmacist at the Brandon Outreach Clinic in Florida. She is also the Credit Designation Reviewer and Contributing Author for Pharmacy Times, and a Peer Reviewer for the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy and the Federal Practitioner.
She has extensive experience reviewing and authoring pharmacy CE programs. |
