Course Overview

Migraine disorder is considered the most disabling and burdensome of all the headache disorders. Migraine headaches affect over 28 million Americans. It is disabling and burdensome to individuals and their families. It also has a negative impact on society primarily due to high economic costs and lost productivity. The annual indirect costs associated with missed workdays and reduced productivity due to migraines is estimated at over $13 billion. Migraines are often confused with other common disorders, such as tension-type headaches. However, their symptoms and treatment vary considerably. Pharmacy professionals are often consulted, both by patients and providers for advice on drug therapy management for headache disorders. Pharmacists should be well-versed in both over-the-counter and prescription options for prophylaxis and treatment of various headache disorders. This webinar will equip the pharmacy professional with a better understanding of migraine, tension, and other types of headache disorders.
